Your Teeth Can Be Healthier if You Indulge in Green Produce

Posted on 1/30/2020 by Advanced Dental Associates
Your Teeth Can Be Healthier if You Indulge in Green ProduceWe all want to have teeth that are healthy and strong. To this end, you probably already know about regular brushing, flossing, and dental checkups.

However, did you know that you can strengthen your teeth by adjusting your diet? If you want to take the next step for your dental health, here are a few items to consider when it comes to your diet and your teeth.

Green Produce and Your Teeth

Besides being great for the rest of your body, green produce has some amazing benefits for your teeth. To start, this food is high in fiber, and much less likely to leave sticky residue on your teeth. This can help reduce any issues you might have from residual food particles.

But where green produce really shines is in the way you eat it. When you eat other food, you can usually chew it a few times and then swallow. However, green produce requires a lot of chewing before you can swallow it!

While this might sound like a negative thing, it's actually very good. This is because the prolonged chewing action will promote more saliva circulation in your mouth. In turn, the increased saliva will help rinse away the bad bacteria and their acidic byproducts. These things are leading contributors to tooth decay, so anything you do to reduce them is going to help!

Green Produce and Your Health

In addition, most people eat far too many refined carbohydrates such as processed sugar. Green produce has very little in the way of sugars, and by filling up on it you will eat less of the sugary stuff. This will help your teeth out, as the bacteria that reside in your teeth thrive in sugary environments. So, next time you eat, load up on green produce! Your mouth will be better for it.
