What is a Dental Drill?

A dental drill is a small drill that is held in our dentist's hands during oral procedures. This helps our dentist remove decay on the outside or the inside of the tooth, it can also help to polish the teeth and alter a fake tooth inside the mouth. It is a common dental tool that is used for dental procedures.

Facts About the Dental Drill

There are two types of drills that are found in our dental office, the slow-speed drill and the high-speed drill. The high-speed drill is the one that shoots out water when our dentist uses it. It is also the one that is most often used with the suction tool.

Dental drills have to be sterilized after every use. This means they are heated up to over 250 degrees Fahrenheit using pressurized steam. This is done for 15 minutes or more.
