Ways of Keeping Dental Veneers Looking Great As Long As PossibleIf you've invested in porcelain veneers in order to achieve a beautiful new smile, you'll want to take every possible step to maintain them.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that oral care is no longer a priority now that you have veneers. By following these steps, you'll keep your new smile looking great for as long as possible.

Make Dental Hygiene a Priority

Just like your natural teeth, you need to make dental health a priority if you want you veneers to look good. Be sure to brush your teeth at least twice daily and floss once per day. Visit our office every six months to have your teeth professionally cleaned and evaluated. This will help to identify any potential issues before they have a chance to worsen.

Don't Chew on Hard or Non-Food Items

If you have a habit of chewing on pens, your fingernails, or ice, you'll want to change your habits. They can actually damage the teeth and can cause your dental veneers to chip. If you clench and grind your teeth at night, these unnatural forces could also damage your veneers.

Wear a Mouth Guard

If you play sports or engage in another contact activity, your new veneers might be at risk. May sure you wear a mouth guard to keep them safe. Football, wrestling, basketball, and other activities may put your beautiful new smile in jeopardy.

Avoid Staining Foods and Drinks

Porcelain veneers can stain, and whitening methods won't be able to help. Avoid this problem by minimizing your contact with staining foods and drinks. Avoid red wine, coffee, and soda.

If you want to keep your dental veneers looking great well into the future, you need to come into our office for your regular exams. Call us today to get your next appointment set up.
