I can’t get no satisfaction
I can’t get no satisfaction
‘Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can’t get no, I can’t get no
Mick Jagger famously sang these lyrics as the lead singer for The Rolling Stones. He may not have had dentures in mind when he first penned the song, but it would probably be appropriate for many of his peers today.
Don’t get us wrong, dentures were and are better than trying to live without teeth. The times when your dentures fall out when you are telling a story or laughing at a joke are the cost for having a reasonably natural-looking smile. Right?
Maybe you can’t eat all the foods you used to eat — and maybe it takes longer than you would like to eat the foods that you can eat — but that’s still better than not being able to eat anything more solid than mashed potatoes.
To borrow an idea from a car company, that may have been OK for your grandfather, but you deserve more from your dentures.
And you can get it with the All-on-4® procedure at Advanced Dental Associates, located in San Antonio.
What Is All-on-4®?
In a way, it’s working smarter, not harder. It provides denture-wearers an experience that is more akin to replacing lost teeth than traditional dentures can ever be.
All-on-4 is a method of providing patients with implant-supported dentures that take less time, fewer implants, and allows dentures to be placed that same day.
It starts with the advanced dental implants developed by Nobel Biocare. These implants and the component parts that are used to attached abutments to each implant are proven to be extremely effective when compared to similar products.
One option with implant-supported dentures is to place several implants in your jaw. This will provide a stable foundation for your dentures. However, you will need more time to heal from the procedure, and you most likely won’t be able to have dentures attached until you are healed.
With All-on-4, you only need — you guessed it — four dental implants to accomplish similar goals.
The key is the strategic placement of those implants. Two implants are placed vertically closer to the front of the mouth. The other two implants are positioned diagonally to get the maximum benefit from each.
Since you only need four implants, this will save you money (fewer implants) and time (few implant placements).
The procedure also allows us to place a temporary set of dentures on the same day as your implant placement procedure.
What A Difference Implants Can Make!
Even though you will only have temporary dentures at first, you will be able to see a huge improvement that same day.
You’ll be able to eat more foods comfortably. Your dentures will feel more secure than any denture adhesive could ever make them feel.
As your jaw heals, the bone will bond to the implants to make them even more secure and stable. By the time you are ready for your permanent dentures, there’s a good chance that you will be far more confident in your dentures.
With time, you’ll be able to bite force comparable to when you had all your natural teeth.
And when you feel confident about biting into a crisp able or a buttery corn on the cob, you won’t be worried about your dentures coming loose in the middle of an amusing anecdote about your last vacation or when you are telling your grandchildren about what life was like when you were growing up.
(For that matter, you may tell them how much your dentures have improved compared to the ones that your grandfather wore.)
Are Four Implants Really Enough?
For many patients, they are, but there are times when a couple more implants might be recommended.
This is when we use the All-on-6® procedure instead. The two extra implants will add even more stability to your dentures. This could give you the confidence to move forward with getting implant-supported dentures.
Keep Everything In Its Proper Place
When you were a child, you were taught to put things back in their proper place. (Admittedly, some of us were better at doing this than others.)
When your dentures come loose, you probably do put them back where they go. In your mind, however, you may find yourself wondering why you put up with them coming out at all. With All-on-4 at Advanced Dental Associates, you won’t need to worry about this anymore.
